RE: maidenhair fern

Sounds like a great tip, Doug, thanks! Question: If you keep the fern
“warm,” that implies potting it for a while? If so, how long?

Thanks,
Diann

If you become the proud owner of a fern that has few, if any, remaining
roots and you don't think it will survive, let me pass along this tip.
Soak the fern for 24 hours in lukewarm water (*not* cold!) before planting
and then keep it warm and well watered. In our nursery, we routinely
imported ferns (no roots, just chunks of protoplasm):-) from Holland and
after learning this small trick, our loss rate went way down.

It worked for every fern we grew or imported.
