Finally, someone asked a question I know something about! I bought one of
these for my husband for Christmas, a tool in his never-ending battle with
the cat (who seems to believe that all freshly turned soil is a new litter
box...). I have to confess, it's had rather limited use so far, depending
on the temperatures, but it seems to work pretty well. Certainly got the
cat's attention! It has settings for different sized animals, has to do
with the sensitivity, I think. The only down side is that you have to keep
the water hose connected and turned on to supply it. We haven't quite
worked out the logistics of that yet; I guess we'll have to put a
wye-connector on the hose by the garden, and maybe run a short hose to the
scarecrow. Hopefully it will also deter the occasional armadillo that likes
to dig in the garden! (We'll know in a couple of months.) Anyway, I'm
pleased so far, although I've heard my husband yelp once or twice when he
forgot about it...
