I'm not 100% sure they are hornets . . We colloquially call
them German Bees - they live in cracks of buildings and make
your summer picnics miserable - they love anything sugary
soda pop, coffee with sugar, apples, pears, etc., - grapes
included.  They can sting more than once (so not "true"
bees) and their sting is AWFUL.

Yet another reason to love winter here in Wisconsin.
