Is any daylily worth a hundred bucks? A few years from now it will be a
Dutch catalog and will be 6.95. There are so many and they resemble each
other. It is easy to get caught up in group enthusiasm of new introductions
of a number of genera. The sobering thought is brought home by other
gardeners who are not choosy and buy a red one or a yellow one or a big one
or a short one.
The same is true of hosta, iris, roses, a few others. You can buy a lot of
daylilies for that kind of money and afford to discard the half you do not
like.
This is, of course, an opinion. It gets one in a great deal of trouble with
serious daylily folk. I think I am entitled to the opinion as I have been
around this collector thing and have cured myself. You run the grim
possibility of losing you green card into the garden <VBG>
