I'm very grateful for the heat zone map and refer to it often as it
indicates the degree of difficulty folks in the North America may or
may not have growing our delphiniums. These plants are very cold
hardy but difficult to grow where day-time temperatures are
consistently over 90degF for more than a few days.
There are all sorts of other factors come into it like humidity, night
temps, local climate etc, but the heat zone map is definitely a useful
aid to us. I can see that Donna's ideas about accumulated heat day
requirements for plants would make the map very useful too.
cheers
