I have both of these planted together next to my
driveway-I do cut them back every spring and then
stick the cuttings into a pot and grow more
lavender-tis quite easy to start!
How big is the railway? Is it HO sized? If so small
lavender plants could be cute around it-and as was
mentioned you could replace them every few years and
mve the transplants to other locations.
Because it takes root so easily, at least for me, you
shouldn't have to buy much after your initial
investment-and the pony paks at Big Box stores should
stay fairly small for several years..I think it wook 4
years for my pony pak bought from bluestone perennials
to really catch on and grow BIG.
This is such a nice plant next to a walkway, planted
with rosemary for example-the scent is released if you
just brush your hand over the shrubbery and scents the
air all around it-and you can bring it in doors to
freshen a room all year round in mild climates-I put a
handful of stems of both into a medium vase of
water-usually I get some root growth and sometimes I
pot these up to give away as gifts or just throw it
into the compost pile, where I have a big shrup of
throw away lavender growing in the composter.
Good lunc
elle in cedar mill OR-Z8-been a very mild winter/lucky us
