RE:rose bush dilemma

I'm about to get a gift of 8 rose bushes that have come from a florist supplier. My niece works there and they are digging up most of their roses and going into gerberas instead.
I have no garage, and no basement and there is still tons of snow on the ground. I may be able to get to the garden shed if the door isn't blocked by snow, but am worried about no light and possible (well lets face it, probable) freezing.
She tells me they have been pruned and it sounds like the roots are kind of bare. I've never been much of a rose grower so I don't really know what to do with them until I can get them into the ground. She suggested I keep them in my back room, a bit ..but not to much ..warm and to give them a bit of a drink once in a while. Its probably 10 weeks at least before I can get them planted. What should I do to try to save at least some of them?? They sound great, deep deep red with a black stripe. I think they're tea roses but am not to sure. They're "First Red"
help....
I get to go to Canada Blooms next week. It always is great to walk in and smell the soil and hyacinths. A sure sign spring is coming
Thanks,
