Baptisia have a long tap root similar to Lupine. They dislike being moved
once established. Don't try to move all the plants unless you need to
eradicate it from it's current spot. Best to start over if you want it
somewhere else. They're tough but they just don't appreciate the move

Subject: Baptisia
I have a Baptisia that I planted at least 5 years ago. Last fall I tried
to
move it and it's roots seemed to go to China! I covered it up and left it
because I didn't really have time to deal with it and next thing I know,
it's
winter. I'm curious to see if I killed it.
If I didn't, any suggestions on how to move the darn thing?
Monica
