Re:Perennials; Acanthus and overwintering pots

Don and Rannalee, thanks for the advice on the Acanthus. I saw two in bloom here when visiting other gardens last year. Sure look like fun!
On the subject of perennials in pots, I've seen lilies used here as well. Looked great. Our local hort. group had a speaker last fall who talked about overwintering perennials in pots. From memory, he suggested that if you have no room in an unheated garage to cut them back, then put them under a picnic table up against the side of the house. Wrapping the pots (not the top though) in bubble wrap was another suggestion he made. I do have a friend who has used the picnic table method for years. She also throws a tarp over the table, and adds a shovel full of snow to the pot a couple of times during the winter.

Good Morning from Wiarton, Ontario, Canada.
I'm still here!

Acanthus mollis & hungarifolious (sp?) come to mind Lillian.
Here in Wiarton ( 5a5b) I have A. hungarifolious that has lived
for years, here there and everywhere, but, has not/will
not bloom for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

After looking at more of the white stuff, I'll settle for anything green and healthy! I think I'm hungering for Acanthus...anybody have a suggestions for one that will do well in a zone 5/6 environment?

Just checking to see if this list is still here!

So anyone still here? Head count time :)

And to keep it on topic, wondering what 'special can't
live without' plant everyone is looking for this
growing season.

And since my garden is still in winter stage and
planning for the season, also wondering what was the
most impressive plant you had last season....
