Thanks Kitty. Summers here tend to be warm but I think I'm going
to give the Coreopsis a try - if I can find it that is!

Hi Lil,
I got Cosmic Evolution directly from Daryl Probst's
Garden Vision 2 years ago. The first year the flowers were all solid
white. The second year, again all white until we hit a cool spell late
in the summer and I finally saw some coloration, very pretty, on 3
flowers. I just checked my photo; it was
mid-September.
These words from Probst's description of his own
creation are more accurate than the wording at places like Wayside. Even
though they sound similar, Wayside employs more "spin".
Probst: "In the heat of summer the flowers may open
almost solid white, but for most of the season the flowers are white flushed
with varying degrees/shades of red-violet. As nights cool in autumn, they eyes
darken and more color suffuuses toward the edges of the petals."
Wayside: "It is undoubtedly the most dramatic of all,
with creamy-white blooms that sport heavy violet-red streaks and stripes, most
noticeably in cooler weather."
The past 2 summers have been very hot here in
northeastern Indiana, so I understand why the flowers are white - but it's
still a disappointment. It didn't fill out all that well yet; if I
can remember to do it, this year I'll do some pinching. If your summers
are cool though, I think you'll enjoy this plant.

Hi all - got a ton of snow dumped today, but the warm weather
and rain melted it. Scary to think what this winter has done to our
plants!
Started my Lust List today...
Has anyone grown Phlox
"Minnie Pearl"? Its touted as no mildew, but I'd be happy with good
resistance. Pictures look pretty. Phlox in my garden at the moment was left
from previous owner and was really mildewed badly so its going the way of
the dodo.
Also any experience with Coreopsis " Cosmic Evolution" or
"Star Cluster". Gotta love the long bloom tome on these little
workhorses.
And Geranium "Sandrine" - think I'd have to do it in a
large pot because my garden is really small, but the foliage colour alone
seems great and then these intense magenta flowers!
