Re: Hellebores germination


Hellebores will certainly germinate with no problems if soen outdors -
bu t--this is what I do...Sow them in a small amount of moistened (not
wet) milled sphagnum moss in a ziploc bag.  I add to this a small amount
of powdered captan or benomyl - after 3 weeks, I put the bag into the
refrigerator for another 3-4 weeks.  then I sow them on the surface
(maybe covered slightly), let the pots hang through the summer, then as
fall approaches, let them cool outdoors for a bit, bring them in (under
lights) and up they pop.
