Re: bird habitat in winter perennials

Vicki,
You paint such a lovely picture! My husband and I also enjoy watching
the birds that visit and have tried to make our yard an inviting habitat for
them year-round. This fall found me elbow deep in books (I've returned to
college after 20 yrs.) and I'm afraid winter came before I could clean the
perennial beds. I've been told that leaving last years plant tops can lead to
the spread of disease, but I must agree with you, the show that the birds put
on has been very entertaining. In my garden, they especially liked the black-
eyed Susan and purple coneflower.

Thanks for sharing,
Denise
