I have to laugh. I bought five small daylilies from a local garden show in
January.(This is So. Calif.) The person selling them had just dug up a
clump that morning and was parcelling them out to raise money for a garden
club. They were bareroot. She cautioned me, "now be sure to plant them just
as soon as you get home so they don't dry out and die."

I just smiled and said sure, but thought, this woman is very kind-hearted
but she certainly doesn't know her daylilies. I brought them home and I
think they sat around in a plastic bag on my porch for a few weeks until I
got around to it. They're now in 1-gallon cans and doing jus' fine.

Tough as nails, they are.
