lavender and Russian sage

My lavender & Russian sage do pretty well here. They get no special
attention whatsoever, and I think they like the neglect. The lavender is in
clay that I have added a lot of stuff to over 5 years. The Russian sage is
in sandier dirt that was hauled in to make a new bed. I throw leaves on the
beds in the autumn, but I think it's because we have had LOTS of snow cover
here the last few winters that the -35 C can be toughed out.
