Re: re hardiness of gaura

Gaura has been a stock plant of mine for many years...and so when I
moved to my new home in Z4 (snow cover rare) I grey a new batch and
planted them as usual, thinking, however, I may be growing them as
annuals from now on.

This will be the fourth winter- last year I lost a few, but the
planting is essentially intact. What is lost, however, is always
replaced by self-sown plants. As I grow them partially for seed
production, I have a fifty foot nursery row of them. Contrary to the
advice about perfect drainage, they are planted in the heaviest grey
clay imaginable.
