If you're talking about what we call soaker hose (black rough textured
hose with no visible holes) we've tried it. We were using our well
water which is rusty and very hard. Within a couple months it was
plugged up. We punched holes in it and within a short time they were
plugged up too etc. etc. So if your water is bad they don't really
work.
