Re: honey bees

Perhaps an approach for living well with honey bees that would work is
one that Michigan State University was researching a few years ago.
Entomologist Dr. Roger Huppegarder (sp) was looking for diversionary
plantings that would keep bees out of harms way when fruit orchards were
being sprayed. His research found that NO OTHER plant is more attractive
to honey bees than Anise Hyssop. He allowed me to collect some seed
from his well established bushes. By planting diversionary planting of
Anise Hyssop the bees will go no where else except to this plant. Bees
also need a source of water and if you supply a bird bath with floats in
it...well then, the bees have everything they need to be satisfied.
Anise Hyssop seed can be purchased from Abundant Life Seed Foundation,
PO Box 772, Port Townsend< WA 98368. Remember the "true" Anise Hyssop is
the Agastache Foeniculum and not the Officialis. This Biblical mentioned
plant should be grown by every gardener for your emotional and physical
health. Incidently Abundant Life Seed Foundation is a non profit
organization dedicated to the preservation of genetic diversity. These
dedicated people are wonderful and deserve our support.
