Re: Bermuda Grass
Hi Nancy and Bob,
Thanks for your advice. Nancy, like you, I fought bermuda grass in
Kansas, and it was also my nemisis! I hated it. I just didn't have as
much as I do here. <sigh> What's bothering me is this. I usually used
Roundup to kill it off in areas I wanted to plant. But even that didn't
always eradicate it all.
We happen to be apart of that group that is worried about y2k, so I am
really planning on a huge garden this year. However, the bermuda grass
is going to be a HUGE problem.
How soon after spraying roundup, can one grow in that area.....veggies
that is?
I plan on making raised beds with plastic mulch underneath for flowers.
I may do some veggies in raised beds. But some vegetables are just not
appropriate for raised beds. Should I just go ahead and rototill, pull
out as much grass and pieces of root as I can, and then just keep after
it all summer?
I know bermuda will grow under anything, including driveways, so it's my
number one enemy!!
Do you think I should wait another year for a garden, and just spend
this year killing the grass? Gosh, I hate to do that..with y2k, I was
really planning on alot of veggies and alot of canning. :o)
