Hello Virginia,
I saw where this one had been answered, but thought I would like to add a
couple of lines of information. In zone 2 you would need to treat as a
potted plant. Also the species mentioned is a bit tricky to grow in some
areas to begin with. There is an Arisaema-L that is pretty active. Also an
Aroids-L which the Arisaema split off from.
Cobra Lilies and Whip-Lash lilies are names used interchangeably on
occasion because of the shape of the "jack" standing in the pulpit. We have
the Green Dragon and Jack in the Pulpit growing in this area, but here are
numerous species around the temperate world to grow in ones garden. Some of
the strangest and fascinating plants for the shade garden to collect. Some
are quite showy. No one ever walks by one in bloom without stopping to ask
what the hey is that? Try and find some photos. Also there are several
personal web sites on the internet with lovely photos. Try this address for
a start... http://ng.netgate.net/~kk/Araceae/Arisaema/speciosum.html
