Hosta groupings?
My house faces north and the small front is shaded by a very large pine
tree on the edge of the property and others on the sidewalk. I believe
the area would be classified as almost full shade. I've decided to
landscape the entire area with hostas and ferns with wild European
ginger as a ground cover, though I may start with shredded mulch rather
than the ginger to save money. The area is approximately 300 square
feet. There are so many varieties of hosta to choose from I'm not sure
where to begin. Any ideas for interesting groupings? There are 3 beds- 1
large, 1 medium, and 1, beneath a large picture window, which is small.
Also, any idea how many 1 qt. pots of ginger I would need? The number of
hostas will obviously depend on the types I choose.
Thanks for any ideas.
