An awful lot, to really work as a weed-deterring groundcover, and they are
somewhat slow-growing, at least for us. Sounds like a very nice combination,
however.
While I'm no expert on gingers, I'm aware there are many different varieties
of them, so you may consider them as interesting groupings also, rather than
making a big investment in just one species. I know some are mottled-leaved,
some plain, some round-leaved, some triangular, some turn maroon in the
winter,etc.
