Re: adlumia fungosa
Adlumia fungosa is actually a biennial. It makes a pretty rosette or
red-tinted feathery foliage in the autumn then sets off to make
enormous trails of growth, up to 12ft long in zone 8, which clings by
tendrils. The dusky red flowers are like those of dicentras and hang
in crowded clusters from mid summer until the autumn and while the
first flowers are seeding, new buds are opening at the tip of the
shoots. There is said to be a form with dirty white flowers thought
I've never seen it.
Often listed by society seed lists (HPS, AGS etc) and listed by
Chiltern Seeds last year, it's not in their latest catalogue. Plant
World list it and this is a superb catalogue which everyone should
get anyway. Send three 1st class stamps (UK) or two IRCs (outside UK)
to Plant World, St Marychurch Road, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 4SE, UK.
