Hinkley's new book and catalogue

I got today Hinkley's catalogue - what fun to read, although it makes me  very jealous of all you lucky guys in the zone 7 and higher. His last book, ' The Explorer's Garden' is waiting in my shopping cart at the Amazon for your advice: how relevant is it for the gardeners in the harsher climes (zone 5 in my case)? After years of buying and reading wonderful garden books by English writers I am getting tired of reading about landscaping with fuchsias and such. Thanks for your input Sophie
