Hi,
I'd second the comments of the lister who looked upon it as an area of
opportunity - I also have a heavy damp soil in my garden which is wonderful
in its own way for the plants which thrive in it, but by using the overhung
dry soil by my foundations, I have a great display of mature lavender,
rosemary, and thymes alongside geranium pheaum album, and schizostylus. I
think in my case, just enough moisture leakes in from the 'swamp' for them
without killing them in the winter. I also use this area to overwinter
alpine troughs, and slightly tender pots which benefit from the warmth from
the bricks, but again don't suffer from the winter wet blanket effect.
All such areas are opportunities for discovering new plants to buy!
