it takes half day sun for you as what I've read keeps saying full

Has anybody actually *bought* a plant in the US?

Marge I have lost the purpose of the thread on Rheum palmatum. Is it "How do
you grow this plant"? or is it "were can we get this plant"?

So I will try to answer both.

Personally I have not grown the plant my self, but have admired the pictures
I have seen- I like LARGE plants. Of coarse I have grown Rhubarb and that is
a Rheum too.

The species is native to north west China and Tibet, It is rated as hardy to
zone 5 but I would think with good snow cover it should grow in zone 4.
Leaves are very large, round with deep lobes and have reddish undersides.
Inflorances - (flowers and the stems that the flowers are on) grow 4-6 feet
tall and come in yellow-cream or reddish, fruit is a muddy red.

Should be grown in deep fertile soils in full sun for best display, light
shade may work but plants will not have strong flowers. Looks best in the
spring when the red stems emerge from the ground threw flowering in May and
June.

This is another plant I will have seed for in about two weeks- I am going to
give it a try here in Minnesota (Like I said I like large plants) I have no
idea were it will go if I am successful-but I will deal with that problem
when it happens. I do not know how fast plants grow, so cannot give you time
frame from sowing to flowering.

Here is what I have coming into inventory:

RHEUM palmatum 'Bowles' - Plants grow 70 inches tall and have large red
flower panicles with distinctive red foliage.

Paul

I just did the math- this is not cheep seed, Seed size appears large- 2,000
seeds per ounce.
5 seeds $3.50
