I will do this again-my last response of Viola seed was not as helpful as it
could have been.
Most Viola species and Hybrids respond best to some prechilling of the seed
plus some cold stratification. Put seeds in the fridge for 5 days, or better
yet sow seeds in a plastic bag with some moist, clean seed starting mix, keep
the bag and seed on the counter, out of the sun and away from hot surfaces,
for two days then move to the fridge for 10 days. After words sow and cover
all the seeds with medium, cover tray or pot with a board or put in a paper
bag.
At 70 f seeds should start to germinate in 5-15 days with some of the species
being erratic over a month or two.
