Hi. Marge...
No talkee for awhile, and Happy New Year to ya. It was the recent issue of
Fine Gardening, I think, that used the ha-LAB-orus pronounciation, which is
why I was
thinking I was on the wrong track again.
Just for fun, one more I cannot remembert for the life of me to pronounce
correctly is Oenothera. It comes out en-OTH-ara whilst those in the know say
ee-know-THEER-a.
Gypsophila I had always heard pronounced gyp-so-FEEL-ya...a year or so ago I
learned it was gyp-SOPH-ila. Any comments from anyone? Are there any others
that gardeners find hard to pronounce? TIA endings seem to fall forth from my
mouth as SHA rather than tee-ah, ex.: tradescantia and astrantia.
Getting the giggles so will sing off now. ;-P
