Hello Joanie,
I have quite a few green/white plants in my garden in shade and dappled
shade. The toughest one appears to be Eonymus 'Emerald Gaiety'. Others
include Polystichum, Holcus mollis 'Albovariegatus', Helleborus
argutifolius, Bergenia 'Bressingham White', Tiarella, Heuchera (I have one
that has green and white variegated leaves, but the name escapes me at
present and my computer is throwing a wobbly and will not open my plant list
file), Heuchera 'Greenfinch', Astrantia major, Lamium maculatum 'White
Nancy', Geranium clarkei 'Kashmir White'. I also have a white Aquilegia
which is very pretty. Would Tradescantia 'Osprey' be hardy for you? I
know that Digitalis 'Alba' may be a bit taller than you specified, but
could, perhaps, be used as vertical accents without detracting from the view
as could Epilobium 'Alba'. If you are considering annuals, what about
Nicotiana langsdorffii and N. sylvestris (although this may be a bit tall
for your requirements)?
Hope this is of some help.

Hi, gang...
I'm planning an understory (1 bur oak, 1 shallow-rooted maple) bed and would
like to use only green and white but with lots of texture. Ultimate height
of
any plant, I think thus far, would be 3' to preserve the view beyond. The
bed's kidney shaped and about 30'x15'. East AM sun for about 3 hours and
late
afternoon for the same but no sun reaches the middle of the bed. I don't
want
to be a slave to the maniacal watering hose. The soil is clay with aged
horse
manure on top, iced with hard wood mulch. Z.5a-4b.
Do any fave's come to mind of anyone? Thinking some 'Fire and Ice' Hosta
would be a nice accent...does anyone know of a source that has it for a good
price? Any shrub/perennial combos you've liked in these colors?
Thanks for any idea or leads.
