Joanie:
Everything looks 'easy to do' in January!
I'm crazy about the daffodil 'Sinopel'. Looks kind of like a dogwood
bloom with a knock-out green eye. And the fragrance is a real bonus.
One of the last things to bloom here, in early May.
I've not been as successful with Zimmerman's bulbs as I have been with
Brent & Becky's, and I think the selection and prices are better (I have
no ownership rights in any company). They are on the web at
http://www.brentandbeckysbulbs.com. For the adventurous, those willing
to plant when the ground is not yet frozen but the wind is blowing, in
the fall they always have a terrific half-price sale.
As to specialty suppliers (and more expensive) bulbs, may I suggest:
Grant Mitsch
Daffodils http://www.web-ster.com/havensr/mitsch/index.html
P.O. Box 218
Hubbard, Oregon 97032
503-651-2742 catalogue price $3. well worth the price for the pictures
They have so many nice whites, I hesitate to recommend. But I choose not
to live without:
Dainty Miss a small, very round and white flower, 12", mid-season
Cedar Hills tall 24", large green eye, small yellow rim on cup, very
white petals
Protocol early, 12", swept-back petals
Jade very late, 15" tall, vivid green eye
any of their Division 5 triansdrus hybrids!
Brian Duncan Daffodils

Brian's catalogue has great pictures. Last year he carried: Ashmore,
Chinchilla, Silver Surf, White Tea, Ladies Choice - every one worth
having. I do not see Mount Fuji listed but you might ask- just a great,
long lasting, all white daffodil that is a rapid increaser.
Ballydorn (Ringhaddy) Daffodils
Killinchy,
Newtownards, N. Ireland
ringdaff@nirland.com ph. 028 9754 1250
I adore these that I obtained from Ballydorn: Avril Amour, Fairy
Foosteps, Cool Crystal, Frost in May
The premier amateur breeder in the world, of white daffodils, is William
Pannill. His cultivars are sold through two small companies. Anything
Bill Pannill agrees to sell is worth growing: Homestead, River Queen,
Lone Star, Bald Eagle, Williamsburg, on and on.
Oregon Trail Daffodils, 41906 SE Loudon, Corbett, Oregon 97019 ph.
503-695-5513
Cherry Creek Daffodils, 21700 S.W. Chapman Rd., Sherwood, Oregon
97140-8608
ph. 503-625-3389 (also sells other specialty bulbs)
Anyone looking for a challenge, turning down-under bulbs around, might
order from :
Jackson's Daffodils
P.O. Box 77
Geeveston, Tasmania
7116, Australia
bushy@southcom.com.au ph. (03) 6297 6203
I just received their latest catalogue last week and my order is in the
mail. I may have to send an addendum. They have a white trumpet,
Godsend, that is gorgeous but pricey. But I may not be able to help
myself.
Some cultivars of theirs that I like are: Sea Legend, Quark, Koomooloo
Grant Mitsch Daffodils (address above) does offer some Jackson bulbs
already turned around.
I think any gardener will be happy with any bulb purchase from any of the
above growers. Hope this long list is of interest and help.
