Oh, yes, I think Star of Bethlehem behaves like a thug everywhere.  At least 
it surely does her in SW Ohio.  I dig them up all the time and yet never get 
ahead of them.  And I put them in the garbage, not wanting to risk their 
rising up in great ranks in the compost.  Drop one of the bulb on the 
sidewalk and it will bloom there too!  This is a tough plant.  The flower is 
pretty, but they are reputed to carry viruses that can infect more desirable 
bulbs.  So if it comes down to Star of Bethlehem or my newest $50 exhibition 
daffodil..........
