I do not know about Burpee-but operations like Wal-Mart are killing the
bedding plant business for growers. The big chains want to pay as low a
price as they can-and when growers start doing business with them they last a
few years before they find out that they are loosing money and drop them or
go out of business.
I do not get the trade journals any more-but the last few years that I did,
the biggest problems were do to the large chain stores killing off the
wholesalers because of the cheep contracts that they demanded.
Like I said at the beginning- I do not know if this has any thing to do with
Burpee.
