I don't
pinch mine back at all, but it is growing on a west facing slope in a rock
garden -- hot and dry. I planted 3 plants and couldn't tell you what I
have now. It seems about politely (I get maybe 3 plants a year that I
usuall share). It branches well and you get long-lasting spikes that the
bees ADORE. Smashing with the Hyperion as well. Probably the longest
blooming combo in the garden. The leaves smell like licorice. And
yes, I believe it is "aga STACK ee." Can't recommend it
enough!

Is 'Blue Fortune' hybrid the butterfly magnet that some sources are claiming (here in our NW city)? Also, I read it is a 2-3' mounder, but do you cut it back a bit in early spring to prevent it from becoming lanky, or does it mound up pretty good without pinching? I have notes in my garden journal to do this this year with mine, to try to get more stems/flowers. I have A. rupestris Apricot Sunrise, and a couple others, but no blue-ish ones. I love the smell of the leaves, it is one of my favorite plants to put near seating areas.
Still trying to relearn the pronunciation! ( I said aga--STACH ee !)
