Space for magazines

>>If I only knew how to store all these magazines in the house. Its kinda
like getting
National Geographic every month and you just don't want to throw any of them
away.

Two years ago, I ripped a back muscle and was completely incapacitated over
Easter Weekend. Major problem; I had cleared everything off my schedule in
order to work in the garden and couldn't touch a tool. I spent the weekend
paging through my collection of garden magazines, tearing out the articles
that had some relevance and filing them in 3-ring binders by topic. I have
one binder alphabetized by species for the plant articles; other sections
for landscaping, plant categories, etc.  Gave a section to book reviews;
another to gardener's biographies.

It's actually much easier to use the notebook system than the intact
magazines.  "Like" articles are together.

Since then, I've been pretty good about tearing up magazines the minute I'm
done with them. I won't keep any article about California, Arizona, or the
Pacific Northwest; I don't need information on cold-hardiness. If I ever
move to a new climate, I'll start over.
