Although I belong to way too many plant societies, the key to gaining
knowledge is to be active. Found that while working with other members,
it becomes a less rigid environment and idol chit chat can be a learning
experience, also friendships develop. Granted, by attending meetings and
listening to prepared topics, you also learn something. I always try to
volunteer for at least one committee / project in each society, most
times more.
