Right now- I'd have to agree with the lavender as well- as it is still
blooming! My hummingbirds that winter over frequently go to the lavender in
winter to eat also.
In summer, I'd have to say my favorite is probably one of the various
salvias I have- I am partial to the blue flowering ones.

Lavander...big, full bed of them. Had such a bed in our old house, always a
great scent, and seemed the perfect summer plant with bees and butterflies
always around them. Makes me think of "lazy. hazy days of summer". Have
started a new bed here, got 2 stands started late in the year. Certainly not
a rare or exotic but manages to evoke nice images for me.
