Too easy - daylilies!
incredible variations in color, height, flower size and carefully chosen can provide something in bloom from late spring/early summer to the first days of fall. Easy to grow nearly everywhere.
After daylilies - sedums, huechera, cranes bill geraniums for foliage, contrast and pure pleasure.
After all of those, grasses.
