daylilies, Clivia, internet good guy

We have a whole section on clivias. Clivias, the quintessential 19th
century house plants, are coming back. We are specializing for now in the
yellows, and I will have seeds from some very fine yellow clivia crosses
available soon. I will also have a very few mature bloom size yellow
clivia plants later this spring.

As a member of the new International Clivia Co-op, we hope to have some
plants and seeds from our Co-op partners to offer too.

If you go there, you will find that we are also offering a few unusual
bulbs this year and hopefully more next year. The bulb price list is not
yet complete, but will give you an idea of some of the things we will have
in spring or summer.

You will also find our 2003 daylilies. All four of our family members have
new intros this year, including Irma's CHESTNUTS ROASTING, a unique pony
size which starts out a velvety dark chocolate in the morning and gradually
lightens to look for all the world like roasted chestnuts as the day goes
on. Today it's cold (19 F) and snowing, so this would be a great day to
roast some chestnuts, in fact!

Andrea has some more of her charming small flowers. In particular, her
SHADOAN BABY GIRL is turning out to be quite popular this year. For the
spider/UF fans, she has SHADOAN WILD CHILD, named sort of in honor of our
youngest grandchild, Megan. Not a spider, it never looks the same twice,
but it is definitely unusual! Sometimes quilled, sometimes pinched, always
wild and crazy!

Randy has some more of his "Macho" line, with his FLAMBOYANT FLAMINGO a
flaming pink that will knock your eye out in the garden. If pink is too low
key for you, look at his SHADOAN HOT SAUCE; this flower is an immodest
flaming red.>>>>>>

I have copied and quoted a letter from Jim Shields known to a lot of
gardeners for his help from one section of horticulture to another. He is
also a daylily grower w/o a major catalog but the above interesting plants
not easily found anywhere else. I am sure he would not mind. Jim has given
endless advice to anyone needing to figure out how to bloom a Clvia
correctly. He also moderates a list, has given time to all bulb and daylily
groups and is a nice fellow. A whole lot of Clivia bloom for me in our
inhospitable environment due to help from Jim. Jim Shields has the be-all,
end-all geophyte supplier list online for any searching for a corm, tuber or
bulb not yet found. His site lists things you will not find elsewhere from
time to time, a good bookmark.

Since daylilies are popular here, here are a few with some interesting
features.
