RE: clematis

Thought I would mention to all of you trying to grow clematis that, even in Oregon, a lot of the secret is WATER, WATER, WATER.  At least until it starts getting woody.  After it matures in 3-5 years it is not as crucial, but the first few years, even in the Pacific NorthWET, lots of water makes the difference.
