There is probably a good chance I'll return to the Louisville area someday since our two sons and a grandson reside there. I just loved the perennials I had growing there and now Texas presents a whole new set of challenges. always meant to visit Munchkin Nursery but didn't make it when I lived in the Ohio Valley.Date: Thu, 16 Jan 2003 07:43:53 -0500 From: "Gene Bush" <genebush@otherside.com> Subject: Re: clematis Hello Cathy, There is a species clematis that is native to Texas.. and will grow in Louisville, Ky if you ever return to garden there. Look up Clematis texensis. Acts like a herbaceous perennial here in the garden. Not always easily located, and can be a bit expensive, but I think it is very attractive since I prefer the smaller species types. Great in a native tree and shrub planting. There are several cultivars and some hybrids to seek. Now that a couple of my virburnums are getting large enough, they are receiving companion plantings of species clematis. Looking forward to the show in a couple of years. Gene E. Bush Munchkin Nursery & Gardens, llc
Now I'm gathering plants for a Lagoon Pool setting. This ought to be fun! (don't like palms)
