Here are some ideas for vines:
>>Passion vines - butterflies love them!
Oooooh... This took over my garden in USDA 7A. I planted one and it did
cover the arbor, and the cannas, and the broom, and the entire corner of
that garden. VERY prolific in full sun (maybe I don't have the same
variety, but I'd now stay away from the entire species.) Cursed the freebie
gift the weekend I spent getting rid of it, and I'm still working on traces.
Autumn clematis was well behaved in my last house and is terribly invasive
here so I'd hesitate--suspect that good garden soil would let it take over.
For 100% safety, one of the tropicals that doesn't survive the winter would
be the best bet.
