Hello,
I received some info about Echinacea "Orange Meadowbrite" from a rep of Walter
Gardens. It will be available in limited quantities in the some catalogs like
White Flower Farm for spring 2004. Apparently a wider retail distribution
won't occur until Spring of 2005. The plants sold in 2004 are only by
Chicagoland licensed growers.
These are some of the highlights of the new variety
* Vibrant tangerine flowers
* Vigorous and free flowering
* Healthy deep grass-green foliage (this sounds like it might have
the glossy foliage of E, paradoxa)
* Grows 2 to 3 feet tall
* Very drought resistant
* Sweet oramge-spice tea scented flowers
* No serious pest or diseases noticed
* Has widespread landscape applications for residents and businesses.

BTW I finally got some Echinacea paradoxa seed to germinate last summer.
Anybody grow this yellow echinacea. Foliage seems to remain evergreen at least
the plants in the greenhouse have remained so.
