Divide your Bletilla as soon as you see shoots in early spring and cover
them with mulch.  This the only time of year to divide them,  In the fall
the rhizomes will rot.and the roots die very fast when exposed.  You can't
do them like other perennials and have them laying around for 2-3 hours
while replanting.  If you can grow Bletilla into nice large clumps you can
grow Calanthe discolor.
