If you use a rose cone over them in the winter-they should have no problem
most years.
Fill area around the plant with a dry fluffy mulch and cover with the cone.
Select those that are rated for zone 4 and 5 to grow. Including:
D. x burkwoodii
D. caucasica
D. cneorum
D. mezereum
D. giraldii
D.genkwa
These are not so hardy and would be difficult:
D. odora
D. retusa
