Re: Bletilla

I grow my best clump on the north side of the house where the tops are in
full during the high part of summer. The roots are always in shade. These
do better than the ones that are in high shade where the sun hits the soil
late in the afternoon. I use old orchid mix and bark to make a highly
aerated soil, They love fertilizer. for better blooming. Sun loving Rhodo
conditions would be just right and everything Marge says exactly right.
They might be a problem in the UK BECAUSE THEY WILL WANT TO COME UP EARLY.
Maybe not thought maybe they need a few really warm days to et them started.
The only time you can divide them is in the spring when the buds first show.
They are sold all dried up in bags here in the US. They sort of grow then
die.
