Hi Nancy,
Which Lycoris is this? I'm only familiar with
the ones that put out foliage in the spring, then go dormant and bloom in
late summer.
I went out and checked my Liriope and didn't see
anything like this on it. Nor have I ever seen any sign of a pest or disease on
the few hollies I've had.
It looks like a bit like a virus to me, but not
necessarily. It could just be winter damage? I don't know.
What is it that you think it is?
If I saw that here at this time of year, I wouldn't
think much about it. I'd wait for the upcoming growing season and see
what it does then.
MOBOT: Good sanitation practices are the most important component of
any disease/insect control program: promptly remove and destroy diseased
foliage/rhizomes and perform an annual clean-up of all debris and foliage from
beds in fall after frost.
