Our other problem in z8b is that we have no prolonged winter cold and
spring (moderate temps) is VERY short. Rain is unpredictable as well.
I understand that only larkspur (D. consolida?) do ANYTHING in our
climate and that things that need to live more than one season in order
to flourish (eg perennials grown as perennials not annuals) will NOT
perform here at all. This includes two of my favourites: Delphs and
Icelandic poppies.
