I don't know what zone you are in--I am in Zone 5 (USDA) and 42 (sunset). I
have 4 Norway maples (which I absolutely hate!!--cause of whirlybirds and such
SEVERAL times a year) but I plant underneath and around them--periwinkles
(vinca minor--I think) and also some just common impatiens in the summer. I
am still working on the perennials around them but am pleased with what I have
done so far although it does involve the PLANTING process every spring (which
I kinda like anyways). I always am AWED by JULY when I see the hummingbirds
and butterflies SWARMING my yard as I sit silently by my pond and watch the
Koi and goldfish---ohhhhhh!!!!! now I am wishing I was doing that!!!!
