Re: Color emphases on Perennial border design
I use opal basil for balance. No, it's not a perennial but a healthy
re-seeder. And I replant it all over my yard. It seems to do equally
well in sun or half-shade. In one bed, I have pink mallow at one end
and black eyed susans on the other end.
Opal basil, in between, seems to play peacemaker. In another bed last
year, I used the basil as background to fuschia colored impatients with a
lime green sweet potato vine in front. I also like it as a background
to white impatients.
Daffodil breeders are working hard at producing blooms with a yellow
perianth and pink cup - something new. There are maybe half a dozen out
now and they take a little getting used to !
