Robert,
You might try 'Pizzicato', a seed-propagated orientalis mixture that is
more compact. Pizzicato won a Fleuroselect medal in Europe, I believe, and
I think that it came out of Benary, a German breeding house.
But I agree: oriental poppies have a very very short period of appeal.
