Re: New Beds in zone 8 -sand


Here in Georgia, with our good red clay, the absolute worse thing you can do
is just add sand. It will work with lots and lots of organic matter. Even
then it often has a tendency to rise to the top. The addition of compost
ect. changes the size of the particles in the clay so that drainage is good.
Maybe it would be good to check with a farmer in your area or the county
extension service or a master gardener.
